Conditions We Treat
Anxiety, ADD & ADHD
We focus on the "why" behind the symptoms
At the Functional Medicine Center of New Jersey, we believe that symptoms such as ADD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, brain fog, and difficulty focusing are often signals that something deeper in the body is out of balance. Rather than simply masking symptoms, our approach focuses on uncovering the “why” behind them. We recognize that the brain and body are deeply connected, and many neurological and emotional symptoms can be influenced by factors such as gut health, inflammation, hormones, blood sugar balance, nutrient deficiencies, stress, sleep, environmental exposures, and genetics.

The gut is often where the story begins.
The gut-brain connection plays a powerful role in mood, focus, and cognitive function, and disruptions in the microbiome can contribute to inflammation and neurotransmitter imbalance.
In many cases, symptoms may also be tied to hormonal shifts such as perimenopause and menopause, chronic stress, tick-borne illness, food sensitivities, or underlying metabolic dysfunction. Through comprehensive testing and a personalized, whole-body approach, we work to support the body’s natural ability to heal while helping patients improve focus, emotional resilience, energy, and overall quality of life.

Why FMC of NJ?
We Don’t Just Treat, We Transform
Our comprehensive approach to ADD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and other brain-related concerns begin with an in-depth evaluation process, which will include a Day 1 and Day 2 appointment with one of our functional medicine providers. These extended visits allow us to deeply understand a patient’s health history, lifestyle, symptoms, lab work, and potential root causes contributing to cognitive and emotional challenges. From there, we create an individualized care plan designed specifically for the patient’s needs. This is a dedicated pathway within our center, focused specifically on cognitive, emotional, and neurological health.

As part of our evaluation process, we may also explore genetic factors that can influence brain health, mood, detoxification pathways, and nutrient absorption. One example is the MTHFR gene, which can impact how the body processes folate and supports methylation — an important function tied to neurotransmitter production, detoxification, and overall neurological health. Understanding these genetic patterns can help guide more personalized treatment recommendations, including targeted nutritional and supplement support.
Treatment plans may include personalized nutrition and supplement protocols, health coaching for accountability and sustainable lifestyle change, stress and sleep support, advanced testing, and targeted therapies to support brain and nervous system function. Neurofeedback is an important modality we may incorporate as part of this pathway, helping to identify and address areas of vulnerability and dysregulation within the brain. Through real-time brain training, neurofeedback may help support focus, emotional regulation, cognitive performance, resilience, and overall nervous system balance. By addressing the body as one interconnected system, our goal is to help patients move toward greater clarity, stability, and long-term wellness.
