Ingredients:

  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 orange (sliced)
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 3-4 sprigs fresh rosemary or pine
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 2-4 star anise

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients
  2. Fill with enough water to cover the ingredients (~4-5 cups)
  3. Bring all ingredients to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce to low heat and simmer
  4. Simmer gently stovetop for several hours, refilling water as needed
For safety, please never leave a simmer pot unattended for long periods

  • 1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup pitted Medjool dates
  • 4 dried figs
  • 1/4 cup tart cherries
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 cup GF oats (substitute cream of buckwheat cereal
  • 1/4 cup raw sunflower seed butter

Directions:

  1. Blend sunflower seeds, dates, figs, cherries, cinnamon, allspice, and oats in a blender on high until mixture resembles a crumble
  2. Transfer mixture to a large bowl and add sunflower seed butter
  3. Mix with your hands until incorporated and roll into balls
  4. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate
